What the TrolMaster Touch Spot Extension Cable Adds

The TSS-2 is a 16 ft cable with a male end and a female end. It goes between a WD-1 water detector module and one of its touch spots, or between two touch spots. It adds that length to the run. That is the whole product. It carries no sensing of its own, and it does not add a detection point. The WD-1 is the leak detector TrolMaster makes for the Aqua-X and Tent-X. The touch spot is the small sensor pad that sits on the floor where water would collect. The lead that ships with a WD-1 reaches a short way. A tank at the far end of a room, a corner behind a bench, or a drain across the floor is further than that. The TSS-2 is how the pad gets there. The connectors match the WD-1 system, so the cable plugs straight in with nothing to wire. It is rated for the same environment as the rest of the Aqua-X line, 32 to 122 °F at humidity of 90 percent or less. An alternate part number is TRCTSS2, and it carries TrolMaster's three year warranty. The retail box measures 6.1 by 3.3 by 1.2 in and ships at under a third of a pound. It fits the WD-1 only. Running a Leak Sensor Extension Lead to the Places Water Goes

A leak sensor extension lead earns its cost in the places nobody looks. Behind the reservoir, under the pump shelf, at the low corner of a tent floor. Water runs downhill, every time. Put the touch spot at the lowest point in the zone it guards rather than next to the thing that might leak. Walk the room with a bucket of water in mind and ask where a spill would end up. That is where the pad goes, and the cable is what lets it go there. Lay the lead flat along the wall or the bench leg. Keep it off the floor where a cart wheel or a boot can catch it. Seat both connectors fully before walking away. A half-seated plug reads as an open circuit and the detector sits quietly through a flood. Test the run after fitting by touching the pad with a wet finger and watching the controller raise the alarm. Do that again after any move of the tank or the bench, because a pad shifted six inches can end up on a high spot. Keep the cable dry at the module end. The pad is meant to get wet, and the connectors are not. Label the lead at the module if more than one pad runs off the same WD-1. The alarm on the screen then points at the right corner of the room. Coil any spare length loosely and tie it high, since a coil on the floor is a puddle waiting to be stepped in.
