TrolMaster WSP-1 Sends One Weather Station to Several Green-X Controllers

Greenhouse ranges often run a separate Green-X controller for each house or zone. Each of those controllers needs outdoor wind, rain and temperature data to make vent and shade decisions. Buying a weather station for every controller is expensive and puts more hardware on the roof. The WSP-1 solves that by splitting the signal from a single MBS-WS weather station sensor. Its input port takes the cable from the MBS-WS, and two output leads run to two separate GCS-1 controllers. Both controllers then receive the same readings at the same time. TrolMaster designed it for stable readings over the longer cable runs common in greenhouse ranges. It runs on 12V DC at a 30mA operating current. Two RJ12 female-to-female couplers come in the box for joining standard RJ12 cables to the outputs. The package measures 6.14 × 3.27 × 1.18 in and weighs 0.18 lbs.

Wiring the Weather Station Splitter Across a Greenhouse Range

For two houses, the layout is simple: station into the splitter, one lead to each controller. For three or more, daisy-chain additional WSP-1 units and run an output to every GCS-1 in the range. Use standard RJ12 cable for each run and label both ends at the controller. After wiring, compare wind speed, rainfall and outdoor temperature on every controller screen. The readings should match, which confirms each controller is seeing the same station. TrolMaster also recommends unplugging and reconnecting a port to confirm the other displays stay steady. If readings jump during that test, reseat and inspect the cables before going further. Mount the splitter indoors or in an enclosure, since it is rated for 32 to 104°F at up to 90% RH. One shared station also means every house reacts to the same set of outdoor readings. The WSP-1 does not replace the MBS-WS itself, so a weather station sensor is still required.
