IIntroducing the Valent Organic Gnatrol WDG BTI Pesticide ”“ a potent biological larvicide created specifically for controlling fungus gnat larvae in greenhouses. This versatile product can be used on a wide variety of ornamentals, as well as all bulb crops, bedding plants, and vegetable sets.

Gnatrol operates through a unique mechanism: once the larvae ingest Gnatrol, they become paralyzed, cease feeding immediately, and typically die within 24 hours. This swift action makes Gnatrol a highly effective solution for controlling these pests.

The product is now available in a water-dispersible granule (WDG) formulation that leaves no residue and is easier to measure, ensuring increased application accuracy. It's ideal for use with ornamental and nursery plantings in greenhouses or potting soil mixtures, as well as vegetable plants such as tomatoes, leafy and cole crops, cucumbers, peppers, and eggplants.

Application rates depend on the level of infestation, ranging from 3.2 to 6.4 oz per 100 gallons for light infestations, and 13 to 26 oz per 100 gallons for heavy infestations, applied as a soil drench. For best results, it is recommended to apply drenches toward the end of the irrigation period.

Please note: Gnatrol WDG is a larvicide and will not control adult gnats. Therefore, applications must be timed for a stage of development when larvae are present in the soil. Fungus gnat larvae generally respond to Gnatrol WDG treatment within 24 hours following application.

"Even though it works, it's not worth the money because you need to give at least three consecutive feedings every 5 days and the maximum amount seemed to work better but when compared to SF Nematodes there's just no comparison because nematodes will continue to eat fungus gnats larvae and all you need to do is not let soil dry back to the usual 25-30% remaining moisture and you should keep it around 35% or 40% maximum. Both products will not completely eradicate infestation without using yellow sticky traps to catch the adults because if you don't, when the larvae hatch and start flying around or the adults that are already flying around they will eventually sit on top of your soil and lay eggs and the problem well continue to happen unless you combine the yellow sticky traps and nematodes. That's the most cost-effective option and the most reliable. I recommend not following the feeding instructions and give at least four times more than they recommend and that will maximize the chances of getting rid of your infestation and faster. I usually buy 50 million pack and I use half of it on twenty to twenty-five 3 to 5 gallon containers and then a week to 2 weeks later I use the second half and that always works the best. Nematodes will only last for 30 days in the fridge after receiving your order but I recommend not waiting longer than 2 weeks because they start to day off and the sooner you use it the more effective it will be."
