OrganiPlug Seed & Cutting Plugs Built From Coco, Peat and Biochar
Each OrganiPlug is a 1.25 in square block of OMRI listed coco coir, peat moss and biochar, held together with an all-natural, food-safe binder. It comes out of the pouch already wet and pH balanced, so a cutting can go straight in without a soak. Ventana pre-moistens every plug with a proprietary nutrient blend carrying Trichoderma, a beneficial fungus. A white bloom on the surface is that fungus at work, not mold. The cut stem seats snugly about halfway down the hole, leaving the lower half of the plug as the rooting column. From there the tray goes under a dome at 70% to 100% relative humidity until roots break through the sides. Mist the leaves as soon as the cutting is in, then judge plug moisture by the weight of the tray rather than by eye. Seeds go into the same hole at the same depth, then into a warm, dark spot with high humidity until they crack. The block fits nearly every standard cloning tray insert, and it transplants into coco, rockwool, soil or other hydroponic substrates. In nursery trials, clones rooted about 20% faster in these plugs than in other leading brands.
Seed Starter Plugs That Stay Ready for Months in the Pouch
Unused plugs ride in a lightproof, resealable pouch that holds them moist for months between clone runs. Pull out what the tray needs, press the seal shut, and the rest stays ready for the next batch of cuttings. A plug that dries out in storage still works after a rehydrate in clean water. Moisture is the one thing these plugs ask you to watch. Coco and peat both hold water well. A block topped up daily under a sealed dome can turn soggy and starve the stem of air. Let the tray lighten slightly between waterings, and never let the plug go bone dry once a cutting is in it. A small thermometer and hygrometer inside the dome takes the guesswork out of the air side of that balance. Once roots show, the whole rooted block drops into its next container as one piece, so the young root system is never disturbed. OrganiPlug is also the only plug on the market with Kosher certification, which matters to growers supplying certified kitchens. For an organic program, every ingredient in the block carries an OMRI listing, keeping the propagation step in line with the inputs that follow it.
