VineLine Trellis Netting, 6.5 ft x 1,000 ft Green Roll

This is a commercial roll of green polyethylene netting with open 6 inch squares, 6.5 ft wide and 1,000 ft long. That works out to about 6,500 square feet of net from one roll. Across the width, the mesh runs about 13 squares, enough to span a bed with some left over to tie off. The material is rated at 10 gsm, heavier than many lightweight trellis nets. That extra weight gives the strands more tensile strength under a loaded canopy. Polyethylene holds up to UV, moisture and outdoor conditions, so it suits greenhouses and open fields as well as indoor rooms. Green blends into the canopy and keeps the net from distracting the eye during inspections. The open squares leave room for a hand to reach through for pruning, spraying or harvest. Hung vertically, it gives climbing crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, beans and peas something to grab. Laid flat, it forms a horizontal layer that holds flowering stems upright as they gain weight. The roll weighs about 12.3 lb, light enough for one person to carry down a row. It can be cleaned, dried and rolled up for another season.

Installing a 6 Inch Mesh Trellis Over a Bed

Cut the length you need before stretching it, leaving extra at each end to wrap around the posts. Set sturdy posts or frame corners first, since a long run of net carries real tension once plants fill it. Pull the net tight across the bed and tie it off at the corners. Then add support along the sides every few feet so the middle does not sag. For a horizontal layer, hang the first net a short distance above the tops of young plants. Weave growing tips through the squares every few days so the canopy spreads evenly. Add a second layer higher up as flowering stems lengthen and need support near the top. For vertical crops, run the net between posts and guide vines into the mesh as they grow. Keep the net taut, since a sagging net lets heavy stems fold over. At the end of a run, cut stems out of the mesh rather than tearing the net free. Rinse off debris, let it dry fully, and roll it up for storage away from direct sun. Check the strands for wear at the tie points before reusing a section.
