A Flushing Solution quart is 946 mL of liquid leaching agent, run at 15 mL a gallon with no other nutrient in the tank. That makes roughly 63 gallons of flush water. A tent or a small room will work through several clearing cycles before the bottle runs dry.

What a Flushing Solution Quart Is Actually For

Fertilizer salts accumulate in the medium and in the plant itself. Past a point they stop being available and start getting in the way of everything else. This is the product that clears them out, and the method is the whole product. Mix it at 15 mL per gallon of clean water. The instruction that matters most is the one people skip: nothing else goes in that water, no base feed and no supplement of any kind. It carries no guaranteed analysis, which fits a leaching agent rather than a fertilizer. The base is inorganic and the line holds no OMRI listing. A quart bottle weighs 3.0 lb on the shelf and holds 946 mL. Worked at the label rate that is about 63 gallons of finished flush water. It serves hydroponic reservoirs and soil or coco beds equally, though the procedure differs between the two.

Clearing Salt Crust and Nutrient Lockout in Practice

In a recirculating system the sequence is fixed. Drain the reservoir, refill it with clean water, dose at the label rate, and let the system run for a minimum of eight hours. Then drain it again and refill with plain water. X Nutrients ask for the whole sequence to be repeated several days later, which is the part that gets abandoned when a room is busy. Soil and coco are simpler. Dose at the same rate, water on the normal schedule using the normal volume, and do it again at the following watering. Two passes, no change to the irrigation routine. The obvious moment for this is the run-up to harvest. It earns its keep just as much mid-cycle, when a feed has been overdriven and the leaf tips are saying so. One honest caution: a flush is not a fix for a feeding programme that is wrong. It gives the plant a reset, and if the same schedule goes back on afterwards the same crust returns within a fortnight.
