Rosin + Heat Presses

A rosin press turns heat, pressure and a micron filter bag into clean, solventless oil, and ice water gear prepares the material to press. Pick the Easy Drip for small batches, a Triminator TRP or LowTemp Medusa for production, and 90 micron bags for flower.

Rosin + Heat Presses

Rosin Press Machines, Rosin Bags and Ice Water Extraction Gear

A rosin press uses heat and pressure to squeeze resin oil out of plant material through a fine filter bag, with no solvents. The range runs from The Press Club's Easy Drip to the 25-ton Triminator TRP and LowTemp's five-press Medusa system. Bubble Magic and Press Club gear covers the ice water side....

Types of Rosin Equipment

Rosin Presses

The Press Club Easy Drip comes in 10 tons with 3x5 inch plates or 20 tons with 4x7. It has dual PID heat, and the ram and pump are included. Triminator's TRP puts 25 tons behind 6x10 inch platens, and the TRP Stack adds platens for bulk runs. LowTemp's Medusa links up to five 4x7 presses.

Rosin Bags

Press Club bags are food-grade nylon in nine grades from 15 to 220 micron, with seams rated past 20 tons. Press Club says 90 micron is the usual pick for flower. Bubble Magic rosin bags come in 45, 90 and 160 micron, 100 to a pack.

Bubble Bags, Machines and Tumblers

Bubble Magic's 5 and 20 gallon wash machines agitate ice water and plant material on a 15-minute timer. They drain through bag sets of three to eight screens. Dry pollen tumblers hold 150 g to 1,500 g, and shaker kits come in 73, 120 and 190 micron.

How Growers Use Rosin Equipment

Start by sizing the press to your batch: small plates for test runs, wide platens or stacked presses for production. Match bag micron to the starting material, fill bags evenly, and keep heat steady with a PID controller. The Triminator air foot pump reaches 10,000 PSI for hands-free pressing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rosin press used for?

It uses heated plates and high pressure to squeeze resin out of plant material or a dried ice water extract. The material sits in a micron filter bag, so the oil flows out while plant matter stays behind. No solvents are used, so there is nothing to purge afterward.

How many tons do you need to press rosin?

It depends on plate size, because larger plates spread the same force over more area. The Press Club pairs 10 tons with 3x5 inch plates and 20 tons with 4x7. Triminator puts 25 tons behind 6x10 inch platens, and LowTemp offers up to 20 tons on its 4x7 presses.

What micron bag for rosin?

The Press Club says 90 micron is the bag most flower presses reach for, because it flows without dragging plant matter along. Finer grades go down to 15 and 25 micron when you want a tighter filter. Their bags handle up to 375°F and seams rated past 20 tons.
