Botanicare Silica Blast 2.5 Gallon for Larger Feed Programs
Silicon builds sturdier plant tissue, and this jug supplies it for feed programs that go through concentrate quickly. Botanicare's Silica Blast carries it as potassium silicate, with a guaranteed analysis of 0-0-0.5. Alongside the potash, the label guarantees 1.0% soluble silicon. The concentrate is a clear, odorless liquid with a pH of about 11.3, so it raises the pH of whatever it is mixed into. Silicon deposits in cell walls, where it stiffens stems and leaves and helps plants hold up under heat and water stress. Stronger stems carry heavy flowers and fruit with less staking. The product works in soil, soilless mixes such as coco, and recirculating or drain-to-waste hydroponics. It sits alongside the base nutrient line rather than replacing any part of it. This jug holds 2.5 gallons, roughly 9.46 liters of concentrate. That is enough for about 1,890 gallons of feed at the high rate, or about 3,785 gallons at the low rate.
Dosing a Potassium Silicate Supplement
In soil and soilless containers, mix half to one teaspoon per gallon of water. That works out to 2.5 to 5 mL, given at every watering or every other one. In hydroponic reservoirs, use 2.5 mL per gallon for mid-size plants and 5 mL for mature plants. Refresh the reservoir dose every five to seven days. Add it first, to plain water, and stir before any base nutrients go in. Silicate added to a tank already full of nutrients can react and cloud the solution. Once everything is mixed, bring the pH back down to 6.0. Use a small graduated cylinder or a pump dispenser on the jug for repeatable doses. Keep the cap closed between uses so the concentrate stays clean. Store it out of direct sun and away from freezing temperatures. Rinse the dosing gear afterward, since dried silicate leaves a white film.
Key Features
- 0-0-0.5 Analysis: Adds 1.0% soluble silicon and a small amount of potash without unbalancing the base feed.
- Potassium Silicate Source: A clear, odorless liquid silicate that mixes into plain water.
- Soil, Coco and Hydro: Labelled for containers, soilless mixes and hydroponic reservoirs.
- Low Use Rate: 2.5 to 5 mL per gallon, so one jug treats a large volume of feed.
- Bulk 2.5 gal Jug: Sized for multi-room and commercial feed programs.
