The pack holds 5 traps, sealed in a poly bag so the glue stays fresh until the day they go up. Each trap folds at 4 x 7 in and opens to 4 x 14 in of bright yellow surface. Seabright coats them with Stikem Special, an odourless, oil-based adhesive the maker calls non-poisonous. Aphids and whiteflies are the main targets. Leafhoppers, froghoppers, fungus gnats and small moths stick to the same face. A printed grid makes the weekly count quick, and every trap is punched and supplied with a twist tie. The panels are weatherproof, so they hold up on an outdoor bed as well as under glass. Seabright's dealers note that a trap can be cut down to fit a pot, a window ledge or a short stake. Using Aphid Traps to Catch the Winged Stage Early

Most aphids on a plant are wingless, and they stay put. Winged adults appear when a colony gets crowded or when new arrivals blow in, and those are the ones a yellow card catches. That makes the card a warning about movement rather than a count of what is already feeding. Hang the panels at the height of the newest growth, near doors, vents and any plant brought in from outside. UConn extension notes that winged aphids on cards during cooler months can point to an infestation already established indoors. When that happens, check the undersides of young leaves and the growing tips for clusters. Read the panels on the same day each week, because the direction of the counts says more than any one number. Parasitic wasps used against aphids land on yellow too, so pull the cards before a release. Put fresh ones back a few days later. Swap any panel coated in dust or debris, since a dull surface stops catching well before it looks full.
