The Bluelab PowerPod is a four-output mains switching box that lets a Bluelab Pro Controller run heaters, chillers and mains-powered dosing pumps. The controller sends the signal, and the pod switches the power, up to 8.5 A in total.

Bluelab PowerPod Connects the Controller to Mains Equipment

A Pro Controller reads the reservoir perfectly well, but it cannot power a heater or a large pump on its own. That gap is what this box fills. It is an electronically controlled mains switching unit with four IEC outputs. The Bluelab Pro Controller sends control signals down the dosing cable, and the pod switches mains power to the equipment plugged into it. Total load across all four outputs is capped at 8.5 A, so add up every device before wiring it in. The unit accepts 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz, which covers mains supplies worldwide. Third-party pumps, heaters and coolers can all be switched this way. It works with the current Pro Controller Wi-Fi and the original Pro Controller. Selected Bluelab Dosetronic models also support it. The outputs are IEC sockets rather than household outlets, so plan the power leads before installation.

Reservoir Temperature Control With a Pro Controller

The Pro Controller can only manage water temperature when a pod like this is connected. Set a temperature-on value and a temperature-off value, and the controller switches the heater or chiller between them. Most growers set the temperature on time to continuous, so the device runs until it reaches the off value. For heating, the on value sits below the off value, for example 24°C on and 26°C off. For cooling it is reversed, so the chiller starts warm and stops cool. The controller also applies compressor protection when it runs a chiller. The same box can drive mains-powered dosers that are not Bluelab PeriPods. Check that every connected device is compatible before plugging it in. Keep the pod off the floor and away from splashes, with cables routed clear of the reservoir. Inductive loads such as pump motors draw a surge at start-up, so leave headroom under the limit. A float switch through the Bluelab lockout box adds another layer of protection.

Key Features

  • Four IEC Outputs: Switches up to four mains devices from one Bluelab controller.
  • 8.5 A Total Load: Shared across all outputs, so the combined draw of every device must stay under it.
  • Universal Mains Input: Runs on 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz.
  • Adds Temperature Control: Lets the Pro Controller hold reservoir temperature with a heater or chiller.
  • Third-Party Equipment: Mains-powered pumps, heaters and coolers from other brands can be switched.
  • Dosing Cable Link: Connects to the controller's DOSER port with a Bluelab dosing cable.
