CO2

CO2 for grow rooms lifts levels above outside air during lights-on, with controllers that hold your target ppm and alarms that keep staff safe. Pick a bag or pad for a tent, a tank and regulator for small rooms, or a gas generator for large, cool rooms.

CO2 for Grow Rooms, Tents and Greenhouses

Supplying CO2 for grow rooms lets you raise levels above outside air while the lights are on and the room is sealed. This collection covers Autopilot generators, California Cylinder tanks, regulators, ExHale bags and Green Pads. TrolMaster, Titan and Autopilot controllers and alarms round it out. For the background, read our guide to CO2 enrichment....

Browse burners alone in our CO2 generators and burners, or cylinders in CO2 tanks. Both sit in the wider Air + Water + CO2 range.

Types of CO2 Equipment

Generators and Burners

The Autopilot 4 burner LP makes 10.6 cu ft of CO2 an hour for rooms up to 4,000 cu ft. The 10 burner NG makes 27.7 cu ft an hour for up to 10,000 cu ft, and steps down to 2, 5 or 7 burners. Burners add heat, so they suit cooler or larger rooms.

Tanks, Regulators and Tubing

California Cylinder aluminum tanks come in 20 and 50 lb sizes with CGA-320 outlets. The Titan and Common Culture REG-1 regulators meter 0.5 to 15 cu ft an hour through a 120V solenoid. The Active Air COSYS doses 0.2 to 2 cu ft an hour on a timer for small rooms.

Bags, Pads, Controllers and Alarms

ExHale bags release CO2 from living mycelium for up to six months, and Green Pads cover 200 to 400 cu ft each. The TrolMaster BETA-8 controls 400 to 2000 ppm with an NDIR sensor. Carbon-X and AS-3 alarm stations warn staff before they enter a room.

How Growers Use CO2

Dose only during lights-on, with exhaust fans off while a burner runs. Hang the sensor at canopy height, since CO2 is heavier than air and settles. Mount tanks to a wall or post, and keep an alarm outside every enriched room.

Frequently Asked Questions

CO2 generator vs CO2 tank: which should I use?

A generator burns propane or natural gas, so it makes CO2 cheaply but adds heat to the room. A tank with a regulator adds no heat and suits smaller or warm rooms. A 50 lb cylinder holds about two and a half times the gas of a 20 lb one.

Do CO2 bags work in grow tents?

They work best in small, recirculated spaces. ExHale rates its bag at up to 1500 ppm, depending on room size and airflow. One bag runs up to six months for about 3 to 5 plants. The XL covers a 6x6 ft room. Hang the bag above the canopy and keep air moving.

What ppm of CO2 is dangerous?

Enriched rooms usually run around 1,000 to 1,500 ppm. Common Culture advises staying under 2,500 ppm, where CO2 starts to affect people. TrolMaster sets the Carbon-X low alarm near 5,000 ppm, where most occupational limits sit. Mount an alarm outside the door so staff check before entering.
