Power Cords + Accessories

Daisy chain power cords let one circuit feed a whole row of LED fixtures, which cuts down on outlets and loose wiring above the canopy. Pick the cord that matches your fixture brand and voltage. Commercial rooms add control cables and twist-lock plugs, while HID rooms use lamp cords and extension strips.

Single replacement cords are also on the grow light power cords page. Drivers, dimmers and hangers sit with the other grow light accessories, all under grow lights.

Types of Cords and Adapters

Fixture Power Cords

Most LED brands use their own fixture inlet, so a cord fits one family. Gavita sells 3-pin cords for the CT 2000e and RS 2400e and 5-pin cords for older fixtures. The ThinkGrow EC-277 uses a twist-lock NEMA L7-15P plug that will not shake loose from a ceiling outlet.

Daisy Chain Power Cords and Control Cables

ThinkGrow daisy chain cords come in 15A, 20A and 30A ratings on 14, 12 and 10 AWG copper. Iluminar's IP67 cord links up to six iL5, iL8 or iL12 fixtures. Matrix M12, Gavita RJ45 and Growlink M8 cables carry the dimming signal, not power.

Adapters, Lamp Cords and Extensions

The Gavita 5 pin to 3 pin adapter lets older cords run newer fixtures. Hydrofarm Lock & Seal lamp cords reach 25 feet to a remote HID ballast. The 240V 12 ft strip carries 15 amps across three NEMA 6-15R outlets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a daisy chain power cord?

It is a short cord that passes power from one fixture to the next, so a row of lights runs from a single circuit feed. Only the first fixture connects to the wall or a hardwire cord like the ThinkGrow DPA-10. Each cord carries an amperage rating that caps the whole chain.

How many LED lights can you daisy chain?

Add up each fixture's amp draw and stop below the rating of the cord and the breaker. Lights run as a continuous load, so plan on 80% of the breaker, about 1,440 watts on a 15A, 120V circuit. Iluminar allows up to six iL Series fixtures on one chain, subject to that math. Higher voltage helps, since the same fixture draws fewer amps at 277V than at 120V.

Is it safe to daisy chain extension cords?

Not in the way fixture chains work. Fixture daisy chain cords are rated and sealed for that job, with ETL listing and IP67 joints on ThinkGrow cords. Plugging extension cords end to end adds failure points, so run one cord of the right length instead.

Which Gavita power cord do I need?

Match the inlet first. The CT 2000e, RS 2400e and second-generation 1700e and CT 1930e use 3-pin cords. Older RS 1900e, 1700e and 900e fixtures use 5-pin cords. Then pick the voltage, 208-240V or 277-480V, to match your panel. The 5 pin to 3 pin adapter covers a room that mixes both.
