Types of Hanging and Moving Hardware

Ratchet Hangers for Tents

Common Culture Grow Crew 1/8 in ratchet hangers hold 150 lbs per pair, or 75 lbs each, on 7 ft braided rope with carabiners. The slim ratchet saves headroom in a tent. They also suit carbon filters and fans that need adjustable overhead mounting.

Smart Lifters, Strut Hangers and Bars

The ThinkGrow LLT-2 lifts up to 132 lbs through 9.2 ft, and several units can link so a fixture stays level. It runs from the LRC-1 remote or a TrolMaster Hydro-X Pro. UH-1 and UH-2 hangers mount ThinkGrow fixtures straight to Unistrut, and MB bars hold four to nine Model One drivers.

Light Movers and Specialty Mounts

The Light Rail 3.5 kit moves a fixture along a 6.5 ft rail at 10 RPM, rated to 35 lbs. The Gavita bracket hangs the RS 2400e rail fixture. Kessil mounts, including a 10 in gooseneck clamp, aim small LEDs at trays and single plants.

How Growers Hang Lights

Check the load rating of every hanger and the frame or ceiling it hangs from. Tents usually take ratchet pairs clipped to the top bars. Rooms with strut channel can mount fixtures tight to the ceiling, which leaves more space above the canopy. Lifters and ratchets make height changes quick as plants stretch.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you hang grow lights in a tent?

Clip ratchet hangers to the tent's top bars and the fixture's hanging points, then pull the rope to set height. A Common Culture Grow Crew pair holds 150 lbs, 75 lbs per hanger. The 1/8 in ratchet keeps the profile slim. Check the tent frame's own load rating too.

How do you hang grow lights from the ceiling?

In rooms, fixtures often hang from 1-5/8 in strut channel, commonly sold as Unistrut. ThinkGrow UH-1 and UH-2 hangers mount fixtures straight to it, with a quick release for service. For motorized height control, a ThinkGrow LLT-2 lifter raises up to 132 lbs per unit.

What does a light mover do?

It carries a fixture back and forth along a rail, so one light covers more ground. The Light Rail 3.5 runs at 10 RPM on a 6.5 ft rail. Light Rail says it turns a 4 x 4 ft footprint into 4 x 8 ft. A 0 to 60 second delay at each end evens out growth.
